The aerotow clinic is for experienced USHGA Hang II and above pilots who want to earn their "AT" (aerotow) Special Skill signoff.  You'll learn everything you need to know about the tow system, launch and flight methods, and emergency procedures to be a safe, competent aerotow pilot.  The flights included in the clinic will be made in smooth air (usually early morning or late afternoon) and in a beginner glider unless otherwise approved by your instructor.

 

   Five tows to 2,000'

   Use of aerotow release, bridle, and weak link(s)

   Ground school, including printed reference materials

   Brief written pre-flight exam

   Additional tows to 2,000' at $15 each as required by your instructor

   Weak link breaks or releases up to 1,000' at $10 each

   Glider rental (if required)

   Instructional books (e.g., Towing Aloft or Performance Flying)
